Web Analyst Duties and Responsibilities


The primary responsibilities of a web analyst are creating procedures for data management, data analysis, web projects, data integrity and web server security. Web analysts often work as part of a web development team. A normal 40-hour work week is typical; however, there are times when project deadlines call for overtime, including weekends. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects growth of 3% for all computer professions, including web analysts, which will amount to 240,800 new jobs created by 2024.

Web Analyst Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duties of a web analyst are to work with trend data and reports, analyze online marketing acquisition strategies, explore new opportunities, and learn about the behavior and experiences of website visitors. Web analysts should be able to analyze web development and maintenance costs. Someone in this position generally manages an annual budget that is set aside for the purchase of software and equipment. This role includes making decisions when it comes to purchasing new equipment and new technology. Typical responsibilities include:

Management of complex systems

A web analyst maintains and modifies all kinds of complex systems and develops integrated subsystems. A person in this position guides users in formulating requirements, analyzing results and conducting feasibility studies. They should also be able to recommend the correct approach to addressing the issues in question.

Software management

This person manages the application software and application infrastructure in the assigned field. This can include installation, upgrades, optimization, interface and link creation, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting. A person in this role can also test, maintain, and monitor system processes using various tools.

Logging of web log files

A web analyst must be familiar with the principles of how web log files acquire data and what data is available. It is very important to record everything that happens and it is an important part of the work of web analysts. This is a way to see what work has been done and to track changes and address any questions or problems that may arise.
