Desktop Support Engineer Job Outlook and Salaries

The number of vacancies in this sector is increasing and jobs are growing in an unprecedented way. The positions in this race are divided into three levels:

Level 1 (L1)

Level 2 (L2)

Level 3 (L3)

L1 is the entry level and L3 is the top level engineer.

L1 engineers (trainees) perform basic tasks such as installing operating systems, supporting users, and assembling computers.

The engineers at L2 (Senior Desktop Engineer) are involved in keeping the computer network up to date with important security patches, interacting with multiple providers and performing small tasks on the server.

L3 engineers (system administrators) are responsible for everything related to computers and the network. They are system administrators with tasks that perform tasks on the server and interact with other departments to make changes or when the network is updated with critical changes.

Since computers are ubiquitous, your job can be in any industry. You could be working in a retail store or in a large hospital. Many companies also apply for contracts with large or medium-sized information technology companies. You are often an employee of this company (e.g. Wipro) and work for a third party (e.g. Reliance or possibly Maersk).

Many people start in technical support. After gaining experience and technical certifications, they can advance to higher positions as a system administrator or system engineer.

Salary

As with all professions, the salary depends on your experience, your educational qualifications, your attitude, your company guidelines and your skills. Another factor in the field of information technology are the specific computer certifications of international providers. Certifications like CCNA, MCSE and others are of great help.

Desktop support engineers can also be referred to as desktop support specialists, technical support engineers, help desk support, or customer support engineers.
