Duties and Responsibilities of the Senior Network Engineer

Senior network engineers are the masters who orchestrate the moving parts involved in the efficient management of a corporate network. His work is more project-based than activity-based. Senior network engineers oversee the service ticket workflow and delegate most tasks to IT support technicians or junior network engineers. They only accept service tickets that are too complex to be handled by lower level personnel. Virtually every industry employs senior network engineers. Small and medium-sized companies outsource this work to IT companies, while large companies have an internal IT department. Working for a company is slightly different than working directly for a company, but not much. Senior network engineers still work in an office, are paid with their salary, and spend most of their time behind a computer.

This role is a senior leadership position. Senior network engineers report solely to the CTO. They have support technicians, network technicians, and junior network engineers under their command.

Senior network engineers work with network architects to design and build functional networks from scratch based on the specific needs of your employer.

Monitor network performance

While senior network technicians spend a lot of time putting out fires, they regularly monitor network performance to try and start them before they happen.

Create and implement network security measures

The network security protocol is created and applied by the senior network engineer. This includes setting up and monitoring things like user access levels, data access history, and other related security issues.
